Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth National Independence Day or Freedom Day, is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on June 19th. It commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. 

Historical Significance:
  • On June 19, 1865, over two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that the remaining enslaved African Americans in the state were free.
  • Texas was the last Confederate state to receive this news and enforce the Emancipation Proclamation.
  • The first Juneteenth celebration took place in Texas in 1866. 
Recognition as a Federal Holiday:
  • Juneteenth was established as a federal holiday in 2021. The 117th U.S. Congress passed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, and President Joe Biden signed it into law, officially establishing Juneteenth as a federal holiday.

The Hip-Hop movie that featured The Rock Steady Crew, The New York City Breakers, Grandmaster Melle Mel and The Furious 5, US Girls which consisted of Debbie D, Sha Rock and Lisa Lee, Kool Herc, Jazzy Jay and The Treacherous 3 with Doug E. Fresh was Executive produced by the late Harry Belafonte.

As a lifelong designer, Djamee understand the impact of influence and as an African, he knows that when it comes to dances moves or African artifacts, when the colons came to Africa, they took everything of value and told the populations that their statues and other art were witchcraft.

​Nowadays they are selling the statues as their own for millions. The High Fashion houses are grossing billions using shapes, colors, and patterns from African Art they took (stole) from the villagers during the colonization.
Most of the dance moves you see in Michael Jackson's videos were inspired by African tribe's dances. To the late superstar's credit, he toured Africa and showed love to Africans as an obvious homage to the wealth of inspiration he got from the motherland.

Breakdance became famous in the early 80's thanks to movies like Beat Street. But nobody is taking the time to give credit to where it came from and I feel it is a bad habit in the Western world in general to feel entitled to ownership of African culture.

Opinion : Révélations choquantes sur l'attaque contre Jean Ping en 2016 et les implications de la France.

Aujourd'hui, lors de sa sortie à l'hôtel Pullman, le président Jean Ping a décidé de débuter son discours en rappelant les événements tragiques du 31 août 2016.

À cette époque, Ali Bongo, accompagné de son ami de longue date et Jean Yves Le Drian, alors ministre des Affaires étrangères du gouvernement Français, était présent dans l'hélicoptère Puma armé d'armes lourdes, lors de l'attaque sanglante du quartier général de Jean Ping.

Ce dernier venait tout juste de se faire voler son élection, remportée avec plus de 65% des voix, et était sur le point d'être assassiné.

Le président Jean Ping décrit avec des détails horribles comment le président sortant, vaincu, a ordonné aux soldats ou mercenaires de lui trancher la gorge avec une hache, et de mettre sa tête au bout d'un piquet, pour l'exhiber devant la population révoltée.


Cette révélation explique pourquoi le Camp de Gaulle, située en face de la villa blanche de Jean Ping, n'est pas intervenue pendant cette attaque qui a duré des heures. Pourtant, tout semble aller pour le mieux dans le meilleur des mondes.

Le président Macron de la France vient tout juste de nommer l'ancien ministre des Affaires étrangères Jean Yves Le Drian, en tant qu'envoyé spécial au Liban, "Dans un effort pour mettre fin à la crise".

Apparemment, cela ne le dérange pas de s'entourer de terroristes pour régler les affaires en dehors de la France. Est-ce que le président Macron est prêt à répondre des actes de criminels de guerre qu'il emploie aux yeux de tous, sans aucune honte? Tant de questions se posent.

Mais pour un maître de la diplomatie comme Jean Ping, il est clair que si ces personnes ne sont pas jugées pour leurs actes anticonstitutionnels au Gabon, la démocratie n'aura jamais sa chance dans ce pays. Est-ce que la vie de Jean Ping est en danger?

Pour un homme qui est riche depuis son enfance, car son père était un homme d'affaires prospère dans le domaine de l'import-export, ce n'est ni le pouvoir ni la promesse de s'enrichir qui l'attirent. On dit que "la vérité n'a pas de tombe", et on dit aussi que "Le mensonge prend l'ascenseur alors que la vérité prend les escaliers", des proverbes africains qui prennent une tout autre dimension en ce jour.


Le président Jean Ping, dont le passeport avait été confisqué, a vécu en residence surveillée, depuis 2017 après son retour triomphal à Libreville, où son cortège avait été arrêté et ses supporters gazés avec violence par les forces de repression de la dictature.

Ce n'est pas le scénario d'un film, c'est la réalité Ainsi, la France, qui se présente comme ambassadrice de la démocratie en Ukraine, a été l'acteur principal du vol du rêve de tout un peuple en 2016 au Gabon, allant à l'encontre des découvertes de fraudes de l'Union européenne lors de cette élection et en refusant un re comptage des voix.

Est-ce que le peuple gabonais comprendra le cadeau qu'il vient de faire à la résistance?

Il devient de plus en plus clair qui tire les ficelles. Le niveau d'hypocrisie est réel, et même si cet article n'est qu'une opinion, si toutes ces accusations de la part de Jean Ping peuvent être vérifiées, le président Macron devra au moins s'expliquer publiquement sur les affaires du Gabon et les crimes organisés contre un candidat à la présidentielle.

Comme l'ancien président de la Commission des États africains, Jean Ping, le dit : "Ils finiront par partir."

Il est temps de tenir responsables les criminels, quel que soit leur rang au sein de l'administration française actuelle. La vérité doit éclater au grand jour pour que justice soit rendue et que le Gabon et son peuple puisse enfin connaître la démocratie qu'il mérite. Djamee Entreprise 2023

Damien, who works at the counter gave them two cups of water with ice. I found out later they were waiting for the bakery's owner to see them.

Damien, shared that information with me while serving my own cup of cold water I asked of him. 

Damien: "Do you think they should be nervous? They are here to see if they can get a Summer job."

Me: If they are not a little bit nervous, maybe then it's not worth it.

Damien repeated my words and in a soft tone. "I love that;" He said with a smile.

No one is shy naturally. It's Another way to say "I'm an introvert".
If you want to make things to happen you will have to change that self limiting belief and other things in your life..

You will have to give yourself permission to get out of your own way.

I ,remember about fifteen years ago when I finally found out that being shy wasn't natural, I got out of the shell - a prison I had created for myself - and started communicating with others more.

The worst you can get from talking to a stranger is a no. To scout potential talent for Djamee Models and Talent, I had to overcome my former "Shyness," and go outside to find potential  talent  anywhere I could.

This is only when I became successful at it that they  came to the  Agency to seek our services on their own.

This past Sunday on Memorial Day long Weekend, I was traveling Southbound on a R train when a young man got my attention as soon as he got in the car.

He first sat a few seats away on my right. Then after a stop. I saw him stand up and make a motion across and he sat  right opposite me.

I liked the way he was dressed. At this point he was on his phone. At the following  stop a street musician entered the car and started  to play the drums.

I was still intrigued so in a decisive move. I reached forward and waved at the fashionable man. 

He got out of his zone and while removing the earbud of his left ear, he looked at me a little puzzled.

In my most natural voice I said: Hi, can I take your picture?
like my mentor Joel Bauer teaches, when you want  to take  a testimonial, and capture the emotion and reaction people have about you and what you offer,  "Have your camera already out."

So in this case I wanted to capture that individual flawless look, and my phone was ready. 

I had to be bold while a drummer was playing to point at a stranger and wave for his attention while he was scouring his phone. I only said the word that mattered.

He made a positive gesture from his head and smiled broadly to reveal a beautiful smile. The handsome young man was wearing a hat backward that asked the question."WHAT IS NEW YORK LIKE?
a black tee shirt with a basketball player in motion on it; white baggy jeans shorts and Versace Jeans sneakers on.

That was it. I knew I had my shot and I just said to him in my most grateful voice.

Thank you.

I had forgotten the drums the train motion and I focused only on the person I wanted to exchange with if only for a moment. I in effect blocked all the noise and distraction to focus on the object of my attraction and self manifestation.


Another valuable thing I learned from my mentor about being prepared and ready is that if you don't capture the moment with a photo or a video, it is as if "It did not happen."

This helped me pull my camera out and document all the events that can  be best explained afterward with just the  visuals.

It helped me on another occasion when I was passing by a Five Star hotel a month ago one morning on West 57 St when I saw some fans waiting by the Hotel's door.

I did not ask who they were waiting for. I pulled my camera out and started waiting too. The black sedan car engine was on, and it was clear whoever the celebrity was, they were about to walk out anytime now.

And sure enough I saw a young man coming out the oversized door.
He then made a full stop and turned on his right. He started signing autographs for his fans and posing for pictures.

It took me a quick few seconds to realize the celebrity was Henry Lau!

Well of course I'm lucky. (I will speak about luck in a future video if you are interested)

I had been missing him the last time he came to NYC. I'm a huge fan. The artist is a musician prodigy; songwriter; producer and street performer.

Henry,  has just celebrated 15 years active as a professional signed artist, and he is only in his early thirty's, looking twenty.

When he was right in front of me and making a motion toward getting in his car.

Me: We love you!

Henry Lau:  (Turning around looking back) "Bye!"

my tone was clear and strong but I did not yell. I spoke to him. 


later on when I logged on social media I  did not have to say I met hHenry Lau. The pictures and the video accomplished that.

I was ready. 

Being ready requires training,
No hesitation or second guessing.
being ready requires taking action.

A look is not enough. I was ready when  ran into the BTS' famed group superstar Seven members bodyguard less, right on Broadway two blocks of Canal Street.

Say what you want to say, because the moment is now and it may never come again.

In fact it will never come back.

You might have, another shot, but it will be a new moment, another time  in the present, if this makes sense. 

I have missed talking to Madonna, when I walked by her a few years back as she was walking out of her car with an assistant to whom she handed her her expensive bag.

The driver took off and they walked right pass me and because she was in her most low key demeanor no one seemed. to notice her.

In 2010 I looked Kanye West now known only as Ye walked out of the Apple store by himself on Fourteen St and Tenth Ave, he then  jumped on the back of his silver Maybach.

I missed a moment then as well.

That was the same car that was parked outside of the secret set of "POWER," a moving painting Kanye did for his song in which he had hired one of our model at DJAMEE MODELS.

There was no photo policy inside the studio where I saw him roaming around.

But on the street you can take pictures of public figures and I have nothing to show for my meeting with Madge and Ye.

Act now. There is something called a "Window of opportunity, for a reason.

Confidence is built. Just like the artists instruments can be tuned up, you can build up your confidence.


Whenever you get someone off their phone, even if only for a photo to acknowledge the way they put their look together; to ask them to join your agency or only to wish them a beautiful day.

In that case when the drummer could not even get their attention, you know this is a personal victory.

A victory as a step toward reminding people that ultimately there is no better app than the app of confidence to unite and share common ideas in the real world among humans.

My books are usually very small so in one sitting, you can just go;

you know you wait at the dentist you wait; or you waiting for the  the train.
well maybe a train if you wait that long that might be a little bit (much) but if you just want to;

I want to share stories and themes that are important to people.
I understand that big books are valuable as well, but my my target is just anyone


who has a question and in the book that question hopefully will be answered and you know I think that with the feedback that I get it's almost direct.

 I can see somebody who just got the book and if I see them the next day.
They don't have to be  serial readers, they  they will not be able to give me a feedback.

Because the book is not intimidating they will be able to just say okay I'm going to read this and if they find it interesting hopefully they do right; they will read it in half an hour.
