Today I only ask questions; I read somewhere on the INTERNET that when you ask the right question the answer is always included in it. Omw home waiting for the A train I saw this kid talking to people. He/she was wearing a creme Polo RL baseball cap backward; sporting an over sized biker leather jacket blue jeans and boots. I could not tell if this was a boy or a girl and it was impossible to go and try to talk to her/him with all the revellers. The kid was drawing attention from the crowd because in the middle of the second wave of rush hours he/she was handing out flyer's to anyone who would pick them up. When I got mine I realized this was a printout on both side of the GOOGLE information linked to their main page encouraging us to take action and sign the petition to oppose SOPA and PIPA and support a FREE Internet. Even though I knew about it; I took the paper in support of the kid's effort. I folded it and saved it to share it with you. You can read and sign the petition HERE

By now, unless you have been living under a rock you have heard of SOPA and PIPA the gross law that the US Senate will begin voting on January 24th. When I got my flyer I felt inspired. It reminded me of the time back in Paris when I had joined thousand of people on the streets who had decided to march to save then NRJ FM radio which was threatened to be shut down for having a bigger transmitter than what was permited by the French government. In other words they were reaching to many young people with their Anglo Saxon music. Now years later NRJ is huge. A successful powerhouse that presents a yearly TV award. The Europe equivalent for the American Grammy's but that recognizes international music that top exclusively NRJ' charts. Would that hold true if no one turned out when they needed support? Would they still be in business? Would FM FREE radio in France be inclusive? Would France be the 2nd market for the Hip Hop industry worldwide?

As an entrepreneur if the law passmy online business will be hurt by it. So may be I am writing this blog today just because my lively hood can be affected by the outcome of the vote? Do I believe in standing up for what's right and fighting for it? Djamee.com and it's sister site Freshapplecurious.com relay on links; back links Google searches other blogs post's content ; artists; designers; models digital materials to function and stay relevant. Could I go back to not having search engines?

Google; Facebook; and all the companies that have built huge success in sharing other people content have walk-out money. This means they are not fighting because they are worry about their personal wallet. They had time to invest in new resources or technologies that have nothing to do with their main businesses. In other words they own assets and are wealthy. They would be fine no matter what. Would we?

Do you remember the last time when a country head of state was accused to be the The Devil? Was ever anything evil ever found there?? Do you really believe recording artists will benefit from SOPA and PIPA? How would you find out where you favorite group performs next if you can't use new media for what they were created for? How can you know where to go buy their CD's? let say your favorite group is indie and sale their music and merchandising only at their shows. How do you even know they existif their music is not availble and circualting freely on the net?

So what to do if censorship grows rampant?

Who will really benefit from this? Artists make most of their money on merchandising and touring. Unless they are producers particualrly if they are signed to a major label they are not making money from the CD's sales. Artists like Snoop Dog and Ice Cube have their own indie labels. Because they have such a high profile they are an exception to the rule and they generate for themselves a lot of money from their CD's sales 100.

I have said it in my intro for my own International Direct Response Marketing Company and I am saying it again: There is a shift going on right now ! The elite group who controls about everything today is not ready to let go even tough the shift has started and the change of hands on who control "The Money" has already begun. This change was unavoidable because the corporations are no longer self sufficient and for many reasons that I won't explain on this forum; that topic alone could fill a book!

GROUPON,TUMBLR, GOOGLE, FACEBOOK, STAGED, SAVING STAR are companies created by young people. These new players have transformed their passion into extreme wealth thus increasing their power and influence in all part of the world. Why the Internet? Why Now?
