StuddedSpikes started late in 2009 as an accessory line made of studs (Swarovski crystal) and spikes. Well the spikes that sometime can cut you, if you are not careful.

My plan led me right where my imagination allowed me to wander. The Gothic store in the East Village.
Gothic Renaissance; the catwalk during some stunning appearances during Brooklyn Fashion Week. One held in a Church, that year and the next season at a movie studio at The Brooklyn Navy Yard.

That same year, my Business partner Stanley Kaplan, and I had to close our Talent Agency and Models offices Downtown Manhattan.  That was a new challenge. Unbeknown to most after the 2008 financial crash, I was living out of friends houses. Mainly on couches in high rises condos; sleeping under my desk at my own office. I was often hoping from bed bugs infested hotels to  4 Star hotels whichever had rooms available.

I had been homeless, working on orders and even creating the outfits sample for the shows from those motels. To their credit, my family who has always been supportive of me, had absolutely no idea what I was going trough. And with retrospect I would not have done it differently. I learned a lot about human character during these times. An experience I don't wish on anyone; but an experience I had welcome nevertheless.   

I eventually took on a job in Manhattan. Turned out this was a place we used to call to order messengers from. In two weeks, I  had relieved myself from financial pressure.  However, I ended up pausing StuddedSpikes. I did not see myself gluing metals much longer and the niche had become saturated with pop stars like Lady Gaga and Rihanna using stylists to unmatched levels of glitz, glitter and bondage imageries.

I re-focused my energy in building my agency online. In the meantime I was at least able to pay my bills with the money I had coming every week  from my job.

Around this time in June 2019, I jumped head first to the POD business model to launch a new version of StuddedSpikes.  The stars were aligned. A few years back I had attempted to secure studdedspikes.com and it was not available. But then there it was, available to buy.

Sometimes, you need signs like these to remind you the Universe has it's own timing.  Just be ready. After a year with almost no sales I realized that my plan was bigger than getting money from teeshirts on demand immediately.

First I would be a fool to  think that my audience had not moved on.  Because they did.  This time I knew it was for real, because my "WHY," was stronger than a marketing strategy or statistics. On June 22 2015, I  mourned the loss of my late mother. This had been 4 years In 2019 and on the fateful day of remembrance, I received another sign while daydreaming.

I knew I would always grow as a designer no matter the platform or the time. I just needed to have a STRONG WHY.  My late mother would not have drove me around town in for interviews and promo tour in vain;  when I was only a teenager.   She was the  only manager I ever had. Or at least on a top of being the best mother, she was a tenacious and successful manager to me.  Her memory deserved that I kept on pushing. No excuses no if or buts. 

This is how we got here (The socks). And I'm ordering them for myself. The black and white and the gold on black with our Classic logo Seal. I would have bought them if I had seen them in a store...
But hey I made them and they are available from one the best POD Redbubble.  A Print On Demand platform mainly for artists. These items are available now. The backpacks and duffle bags are next.  And yes the beauty products are coming soon too. 

Far gone are the acne day. My Brand Ambassadors,  that you can see in the video bellow are in their late teens.  They will share with you their own progress and results using our products.  I will focus on developing a fragrance anyone with good taste would love to adore to wear.

When I was stuck in an elevator with Joan Collins, 3 years back or so; I forgot to say hello or to thank her for the original Dynasty days. The perfume she was wearing had overtaken me. To the point of wondering who could smell that good.  Her. The ageless lady was wearing her own signature fragrance. One man was standing beside her. I did  some quick google searches as soon as I stepped out father building and he turned up as her companion.

I knew that  a scent can make you travel without a plane. A scent can propels your whole being to a wonderful place. Some fragrances   can evoke all kind of emotions in you and bring back cherish memories.

The seed was planted.  I would work on my own fragrance. It would resonate  the most with the people who align with my style. As it is still in development, I will reserve the BIG effect and MOMENT, for the release time.

 You pay for the view not for the space.   I was laughing when this words came into my mind; because this is right out out of the mouth of a Real Estate Agent condo tour's playbook. You know how they will find the perfect words to get you to buy the view for thousands upon thousands while the space is like a shoebox.

I wanted to twist the metaphors a little bit more, by including the space as an image of the cosmos. The space, you get it?  I thought that would be pretty cool to see and clever say.

Every Thursday I drop a new Capsule Collection. Anything goes; I just have fun with it. This week I even teased the design by including a skyscraper I love that has a  360 degrees open view.

I ask "Will you come enjoy the view with me Thursday?" Each layers reveal a clue of  what's to come. Ultimately you will make what you want of it; and this is the idea.
Art finishes to belong to you once you put it out for everyone to see.

The building makes another appearance in the actual Facebook and Instagram posts.   Yeah there’s always something to feel and read in between the lines.  I like to push that aspect of the process you know. I like to tease your imagination and  hopefully you're playing along. This is more than just clothes; because if it was only for that; the designs use the same base every week. I would bore you to death.

I have unlocked all the options on TEESPRING.  I  have access to more items but I just play with those because I'm telling a story; people don’t come only for the clothes I suspect they come for more. A glimpse at some truth; some shared memories of pop culture; business jargon. Hopefully a laugh  or a "oh ha" moment that made you think.

We are based in New York, where at the moment I'm writing this; Manhattan is only going trough PHASE 1 of reopening.

This  means the retail stores are not even yet scheduled to  reopen until next week.

1) Amazon Merch, although an online E-commerce, after a 3 months shut down, has reopened. We were approved earlier this year on that platform.   But by the time we were ready to show you our designs;  AMAZON,  had suspended it's services on it.  Now we get a chance to publish our designs.
