be the best you can be
What would you do to become independent? You were once a 7 years old child. You use to tell you parents: I want to be an electrician when I grow up. I want to fly a jet. I want to cook for a lot of people. I want to be a baseball player. I want to be a supermodel. You were independent, you knew how to dream and think for yourself. Hopefully, your parents supported your choices and encouraged you to become whoever you wanted to be.
Now you are all grown up and you are ready to fly on your own. You want to leave your family house to start your own life. What are your options? Get a room; share an apartment with roommates; move in with your current boyfriend or girlfriend? How are you supposed to come up with the money? Is that your definition of independence to leave the family home just to have to go and live under somebody else roof and other people rules?

If it was any indication the amount of "likes" on my last blog "That's the Way Of The World,"
I took position in favor a legalization of same sex marriage. Tonight history was made in Albany, making NYC, the 6th State in the country to recognize gay marriage. It was not done without emotion; bi partisanship and concessions; but in the end the bill passed after years of failure. Tonight I am joining everyone who has a story of discrimination in joy as I can relate to the hurt that one can go trough when being a minority. Now my hope is that parents will be more supportive of their gay or bisexual children knowing that they have the same legal rights as anyone else in New York. It get's better because many suicide of teenagers living in shame can be prevented- Next I hope that the state will legalize Marijuana. Time will tell- DR

Never been much of a cigarette smoker I started at 13 years old and I had quit by age 15. But when it comes to pot or hashish; I smoke a joint whenever I feel like it. This is natural and it feels good. This week marks the 40th anniversary of the U.S.-led war on drugs following it's announcement by President Richard Nixon, on June 17, 1971. " The global war on drugs has failed, with devastating consequences for individuals and societies around the world" by The numbers 40 M Total drug war-related arrests since 1971. Drug offenses remain the No.1 cause of incarceration domestically, high above arrests for violent crimes. 11M+ approximate number of arrests for marijuana-related offenses since 1980, based on figures from "Drug War Facts." $500 Cost to government, per second, in the war on drugs. $15B U.S budget for drug war related activities for 2011-2012. $1T Estimated cost of prosecuting the war on drugs for 40 years, according to an AP report. To illustrate the absurdity of all of this even Justin Timberlake came clean this week on his pot habit "The only thing pot does for me is it gets me to stop thinking...Sometimes I have a brain that needs to be turned off. Some people are just better high." the 30 year old star said. See what Wiz Khalifa, makes of all of this in the video bellow, LOL. Everyone knows someone who does drugs; withstanding the fact that prescription drugs in some case can be as dangerous or more dangerous than street drugs. IE Anna Nicole Smith; Marilyn Monroe; Michael Jackson all dead from prescription drug related addictions. Source-metro news. Analysis & additional text - DR

"Just Married" Levi's window on 14 st & 10th Ave 06/16/11
I was shot in the face when I was 5 years old for being black. More details in my V.I.P Various Imbecile Protected book. Today in New York, marks a decisive day in the LGBT fight for equal civil rights.
At the time I am writing this; only 1 vote is needed to pass the same sex marriage bill in NYC. Any kind of discrimination; any way you put it is WRONG. Labeling yourself is also wrong. People have the right to love/sleep with who they want. A caring sexual partner will make a point to use protection though. I was born in Switzerland, and I am naturally inclined to be neutral. I will talk more about my personal experiences in my book but on D-Blog, I want to be clear today. Let everyone marry. Let everyone know what it is to commit to a relationship. Let everyone take their responsibilities without having to hide behind false pretexts. Let equality be the rule. Text and photo by Djamee- DR
