Kid Cudi The seed That brings you Citi
I will always remember meeting Scott Ramon Mescudi "Kid Cudi" right before he became a star. I scouted him an afternoon on a buzy Soho street I believe it was on Spring street. I remember he was down to earth listening to my natural pitch. I asked him if he had thought of doing some modeling; may be just for commercial and print work.
I could tell he was not the required 6.'0' foot + to do runway work. He told me that he was interested without hesitation. I invited him to meet at Djamee Models office at Stanley Kaplan Talent which was located not too far from Soho in the Financial District.
The following day he showed up and he was on time. Scott told me a little more about him. I always ask my prospective talent about their skills, and Scott mentioned to me that he was making beats. I was like "That's cool I know an artist that could use your beats but he is not around right now... I will let you know when he is back."
The meeting was a success just like that he was setup. "I will call you as soon as I have something just keep in touch."
Somehow the next week I found a job I could send him to; without him having to even audition for it. The same way he showed up to my office the same way he went to that gig. One thing I know about people who get what they want in life they don't procrastinate; they don't wait for the perfect time. There is never a perfect time. They get it done. The best time to start is always NOW.
So why amI telling you all this after all of these years? Well If had told you the story in other circumstances It would have been just bragging. I focus on results so I don't need you to like me but I don't need to be a douche bag either by wasting our precious oxygen.
I have a point and I will make it fast by the end of this paragraph you will understand.
Everything had happen real fast with this particular guy Scott and I was happy to have met him.
Then a week or so after he stopped by to pick up his check I tried to reach him on the phone but his phone was disconnected. I tried again the next day with no success. I tried a few days later; nothing.
So I decided to wait. But Scott's phone call never came.
Anyway one day may be a month or two later I heard "Day 'N Nite" on the radio...WOW. Kid Cudi yeah Kid Cudi he was here just a few months back...
The same way I had met the kid the same way he disappeared... The next time I heard of Scott aka Kid Cudi, he had been nominated by MTV for best new artist of the year. I was not really surprised at the way things had turned out for him. His energy and his attitude was right; so only good could come out of it.
At the office an associate manager who had his office across the hall from me mocked me for years for missing on an opportunity to manage him. This was not what we were supposed to do. He never pushed that music on me. Yes he told me he was making beats but he never mentioned to me he was rapping.
I always thought hey you never got to call Scott to help him get his beats to an artist in need; what if I have the opportunity to do that today for a young producer and connect him to his audience. And what would happen If I could do more?
I am happy I will be able to help not just 1 producer but several up and coming beat makers starting January 22nd 2014. The platform is digital intuitive and will allow young producers to get connected to you the artist who needed their music yesterday.
I want to give a special shout out to CITI Soundz who jumped on the opportunity be the first producer to be featured on this new platform.
Citi Soundz latest accomplishment is to bring Y Millz on a hot song a remix he made Chris Brown "LOYAL" East Coast Version. Y Millz is getting a fresh buzz after a successful Christmas release of his new mixtape Respect My Grind Vol 2. Since then his YouTube account has caught fire raking over 110,000 views in just four days for the LOYAL remix audio!!
So I hope you following my train of thoughts. When people come together with the right stuff, magic happens. If you are a beat maker or an artist here is your chance to find out first how this new digital platform I am launching on January 22nd will benefit you.
