I am taking the time to pay homage to one of the last TRUE Hollywood icon. Elisabeth Taylor, February 27, 1932/ March 23, 2011.
The superstar helped me dream when I saw her in the bio epic Cleopatra. She inspired me to be in show business. She was a legendary actress, and an humanitarian. She fought most of her life for worthy causes including co created AMFAR to help raise money to find a cure for AIDS after the untimely death of actor and Rock Hudson in the nineties. She also was an unconditional friend of Michael Jackson, and supported him during his trials. Elisabeth, inspired many legends when she married and divorced and then re married to Richard Burton. She also through life made diamonds even more popular in the 20th century; owning and wearing many most them gifts from men admirers. she eventually introduced her first parfume of course it was called WHITE DIAMOND soon followed by PASSION. Both lasting best sellers at department stores worldwide like her legacy.
Russel Simmons says it best: “Happy can make you money, but money can’t make you happy.” Russel Simmons is one of my inspirations. In the early 90's well after he had established LLCooll J as a rap star and made history with the Beasty Boys I saw him on a cover of Black Enterprises leaning on a Silver Shadow Rolls Royce. At the time I was going to NYU for Business and Management. He gave me hope because there i saw someone young I could relate to. He looked peaceful and had a glow to him of great energy; i will always remember seeing him for the first time being chauffeured down Park Avenue south on the phone his right window down. I was on my mountain bike his driver was burning all the lights lol.
I am feeling my best in 2 years. I have been progressing in my writing of my book"V.I.P' and other projects. I will be sure to share with you soon. I am most grateful to my father and my sister Maryse, who when no one believed in me uplifted me simply by words... Positive one!!! I feel a lot of people go trough life without knowing that they are handicapped, challenged by all the negativity that has been thrown or rather projected at them. I grew up with a father always traveling for his work and a working mother. My older sisters except maryse, would physically abuse me for years; but mainly the verbal abuse from them is what affected me the most in the long run in my adult life. I learned the hard way that behind friends you may face your worst enemies as well. Through years of soul searching I learned to be best on my own; to love myself first and to never let anyone tell me what to do. Often siblings or friends under the pretext of knowing what is best for you will misguide you. THey will prevent you to reach your own potential. Parents can do the same and often do projects their fear on their own kids. It is up to you to recognize the people who truly have your back. They will never throw at your face what they did for you; because a true friend don't count but you can count on them - DR
