"Do You Wanna Dance? Come on now, this is your last chance." - Donna Summer.
R.I.P icon. Happy Pride, New York! Hello world. What a far cry from 2019, when the city hosted the World Pride Parade, with record breaking people in attendance.
NYC, traditional parade has turned virtual. Let's keep in our prayers those who did not wake up today. This pandemic is taking lives and soon will make millions of people homeless.
My landlord called me yesterday afternoon to see if I was home.
I said: Yes I'm.
Landlord$$$ Meet me in the hallway. I did.
Landlord$$$ "So you had fun the last three months?" She asked with sarcasm.
I answered: Fun? If your idea of fun is the kind os stress I went trough.
Landlord$$$: 'Well we all had to go trough stress."
I smiled. Did you receive my cashapp payment two days ago? (rhetorical question) because no one had to tell me to start paying back on past rent!
Landlord$$$ "Yes I did.
(No thanks of course).
Look if you were a jerk or a bitch before the 2020 pandemic; chances are you still are one right now.
Let me get back on topic and give my energy to something more important.
As Gay Pride Month comes to a close, let's not forget the runaway kids who more often than not, attempt to commit suicide rather than face the disapproval of their family or so called friends; when they realize they are LGBTQ.
I'm not the bearer of good news. I'm only doing what a lot of people are too afraid to do; even if they live in a State where homosexuality is legal. Even if for most of them, they cannot be fired for being gay. They prefer to be silent.
No one decide to be gay in a society where you can die just for being a Lesbian; Gay; Bisexual; Transgender at the wrong place.
Living a life of truth is better than a true lie. However no one should out a person no matter who they are. Famous or not; Rich or poor; living in a country where homosexuality is legal or not.
All I trust one can do is use their voice to promote inclusion in our community. No matter how unpopular the topic is. You have a platform in your hands. Facebook and Instagram; TIK TOK; Snapchat; Twitter can't make or turn you gay. Again you do not choose who you are and your sexual preferences.
Be you and be a good human being.
You do not have to understand everything to be empathic. If you are, that's enough.
Who ever got time to hate on a whole community is miserable as fuck in their own life.
Social Media can't make you a good or a bad person. If you are a jerk always posting to impress people instead of posting to empower them that's on you. Social will just amplify these traits for a whole audience to see.
Have a good look at yourself are you all right?
To all my Queer brothers and sisters; happy 365 days of Pride. The last Dance by Donna Summer is so emotional. But as we thrive in our own lives and as one in the community; lets take her up on that dance; shall we. LOVE WINS!
